Is mouse and keyboard cheating?

So recently a topic has come up and has sparked a major debate online. With it being is using mouse and keyboard on console gaming cheating? It all started on a blizzard battlenet form were a few players voiced their opinion on if using mouse & Keyboard is cheating on competitive play. Then it took a major turn when Blizzard chimed in saying they do consider it cheating, and if they could they’d ban them for cheating. This comment came from the director of Overwatch Jeff Kaplan stating

“ The Overwatch team objects to using mouse and Keyboard on console.

We have contacted both first-party console manufacturer and expressed our concerns about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices

We have lobbied and will continue to lobby for our first-party console manufacturer to either:

To disallow mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices

Openly and easily support mouse and keyboard for all players.

I encourage you to reach out to hardware manufacturers and Express your concerns(but please do in a respectful and productive way)”

Microsoft doesn’t support mouse and keyboard at all but Phil Spencer recently hinted at they should expect platform support in the coming months. But most games don’t support mouse and keyboard but many players use a third party to use it. Blizzard has openly said this is something only to worry about if you’re playing in the top 500 competitive players, but many players are still divided saying they shouldn’t have to change their game style to something that isn’t supported at all. From the looks of it right now both Microsoft and Sony aren’t going to make any changes anytime soon.

To give you an example of how much this could impact online gaming a few months back Gears of War 4 held a cross platform co-op play as a test to see how they could implement more cross platform play in the future. From the results they got back it was a big game changer and mouse and keyboard had a the upper hand. This is defiantly  an interesting debate and I’d love to hear your input.

Resident evil 7 Review

The latest installment to Resident Evil is a horrific masterpiece. This is one of the few horror games that kept me at the edge of my seat in a long time. Capcom really kept true to the original RE roots by staying as a survival horror game but at the same time adding the new first person aspect. Which I might add is the cherry on top of it, it really immerses you in the game.

It constantly forces you to look over your shoulder and make sure you’re safe, even if you already cleared the room. Capcom made sure to keep you scared with sound effects such as wind hitting the doors and knocking over cans etc all the little stuff they add in the game gives it all the more suspense.

One of my favorite nostalgia parts of the game was organizing everything in your backpack just like in the old RE it forces you to be neat and choose what you deem is important. The story was amazing on it’s on leaving you with little to know. All you know is that there’s these crazy red necks trying to kill you and you have to kill them before they kill you. Unraveling the mystery of what has happened to the Baker family was beautiful and with all plot twist that this game throws at you I’m still wondering about the ending, trying to connect all the pieces.

If you love horror games then I can guarantee this is for you I can almost guarantee you’ll love it I can’t wait to go back and replay this game again. Also if you know Resident Evil then you know they also like to keep franchises going so fingers crossed for a RE8 with the same tone as this one.

Trumps Policy on Transgender Restrooms

President Trumps administrations made an announcement on Wednesday Feb 22nd 2017, that’s getting the LGBTQ community very concerned. Removing Obama’s transgender restroom law for public schools and leaving it up to the states to decide. It’s no longer a federal law to allow trans students to use whatever restroom they feel more comfortable with.

For Trans students in California have nothing to fear. We have some of the most strongest protection laws when it comes to protecting transgender students. But many are fearing for those who live in more conservative areas. Many of these already live in fear because they’re afraid of what others will think or say about them. Because of the constant fear they live in they have the highest suicide attempt rate according to it’s 41%.

Trumps even created a rift amongst his staff on this order. The Education secretary Betsy Devos was very vocal about being against this law fearing the potential harm it could cause in the future. With Attorney General Jeff Sessions whose has a long history of being conservative. He’s already causing feuds within his office in his first 100 days in office, so who knows how this will affect them.

The Los Angeles School Unified are very strong on bullying against the LGBTQ community. A matter of fact the rate of bullying amongst transgender students has not gone up at all. LA will still allow trans students to use whatever restroom they feel most comfortable with. Statement coming from Michelle King whose very committed to protecting trans students said “Transgender students in L.A. Unified will remain protected regardless of the new directive by the Trump administration pertaining to access to restrooms and locker rooms”.

Southern California for the most part is making a strong stand against trump and his latest act. So Transgender students have really nothing to fear here. L.A unified has stressed too if you feel like your rights are being violated, to please tell someone in authority so it can be resolved.

Pewdiepie v.s Wall Street Journal

The famous youtuber known as PewDiePie(Felix Kjellberg) has been the main target of Wall Street Journal lately. With his content not as family friendly as certain people would like. It has definitely gotten him into some trouble. With a recent article published about him forcing major companies like Disney and YouTube to cut certain ties with him.

The reason for this is because he posted a video a month ago that has racial content. Three reporters by the name of Rofle Winkler, Jack Nicas, and Ben Fritz posted a article and video explaining how Felix is a anti-semiotic/racist. The video shown by the WSJ supports their argument on how Felix fits into all these hateful groups. By showing clips of his videos showing him in Nazi like attire. Watching Hitler speeches, and showing off swastikas on his videos. Even one where he pays two young men on to hold up a sign. With it saying “Death to all Jews.”.

All of the clips they show demonstrate hateful messages. Since all of this has happened lots of people are looking at pewdiepie as the newest face of racism. The Daily Stormer has even declared itself pewdiepie’s number one fan website. For the most part it’s mostly viewed as one of the most hated site in America.

Since this all happened Pewdiepie has taken some hits to his career. Two of his biggest partnerships Disney and Youtube have cut ties with him. Mainly because they do not want to be connected with someone who is being labeled as a racist. Youtube has since then cancelled his season 2 of his Youtube Red series. But it hasn’t been purely negative blows to him ever since this has emerged his subscriber rate has gone up.

However Felix has been very vocal of his situation as well. On February 16 he posted a video addressing his side of the story. He claimed that the WSJ is attacking him in hopes to destroy his career and taking all of his videos out of contexts. Which is something he has been very vocal about before saying how mainstream media takes everything out of context just to get views. He then stated the reason why he paid those two young men to hold up that sign is, because he wanted to prove how stupid the website is. As well to show off what lengths people will do for five dollars. He goes on to say that the media hates internet icons such as himself because of how much of a voice they have.

Even more they plaster to the world how much money he makes, but not all the good he does with his money such raising millions of dollars to charities. The reasoning behind his lost of partnerships is because WSJ forced them to cut ties with Felix. He was unaware for sometime of how many people thought he was a racist. When he found out he wrote a statement saying he does not support racism in any kind of way and, has no ties to any hate groups in any way. Ultimately he does agree that some of his jokes went a little too far but still believes this is an attack on him.

Elon Musk believes cyborgs are the future

Elon Musk is a firm believer that humans will be eclipsed by artificial intelligence. Also that we must find a way to directly communicate to machines. Because If we don’t we run the risk of being irrelevant. But of course it was said in a smoothing way by everyone’s favorite billionaire.

He went on to say “Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence.” to the World Government Summit in Dubai. As well it’s were he started Telsa in the United Arab Emirates. He continued on with “It’s mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain and digital version of yourself, particularly output.”.

The idea of combining the human geneticist with technology isn’t new at all. Many of the best and brightest people have worked on something like that for years. Not to mention that this is something that is huge in the Scifi community. The fact that a man like him is saying something like this is getting a lot of attention.

Now when people think of human and technology being one. They generally think of some kind of high tech super computer. But to be more relateable think of a VR headset. Musk usage of “bandwidth” is interesting to say the less. Mainly because it’s the way that machines communicate with each other. We only use about 10 bits per second every time we use a smartphone.

Another reason for him to be thinking so outside the box is because many people are losing their jobs. At a rapid pace to machines. Especially to those who drive because many companies like Uber are looking into self driving cars. Musk went on to say “We need to figure out new roles for what those people do, but it will be very disruptive and very quick.”. So it seems like he’s saying all this not to sound like a crazy scientist but to help people save/create new jobs.
